For summer 2026 there are several beaches and coastal areas in Sardinia where access is regulated in order to protect the environment, prevent overcrowding and preserve some of the island’s most delicate ecosystems.

Please note: “limited numbers”, “quota access” and “mandatory reservation” do not always mean the same thing. The rules can also change from one year to the next and, in some cases, during the summer season itself.

1. Cala Coticcio – Caprera
Also known as “Tahiti”, Cala Coticcio is one of the most spectacular coves in the La Maddalena Archipelago. It lies on the north-eastern coast of Caprera, surrounded by pink granite rocks, Mediterranean scrub and crystal-clear water.
The beach is subject to strict environmental protection and access by land is only possible along a trekking path accompanied by a guide authorised by the National Park.

2. Cala Brigantina – Caprera
Also on the island of Caprera, Cala Brigantina falls within the protected area of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park. Access is regulated in order to protect a particularly fragile environment and limit tourist pressure during the high season.

3. La Pelosa – Stintino
This is probably the most famous limited-access beach (and one of the first) in Sardinia. La Pelosa, near Stintino, is characterised by very shallow, transparent water, brilliant white sand and views of the island of Asinara and the Aragonese tower.
During the summer season access is quota-controlled and regulated, with a maximum daily number of visitors. The booking system and rules may be updated by the Municipality of Stintino from one season to the next.

4. Rena Bianca – Santa Teresa Gallura
In the heart of Santa Teresa Gallura lies Rena Bianca, one of the best-known beaches in Gallura. The beach is subject to access restrictions during the high season, with visitor-control systems designed to prevent overcrowding.

5. Le Piscine di Cannigione – Arzachena

The coast of Baunei and the Gulf of Orosei concentrate some of the most spectacular and most delicate beaches in Sardinia. Here the regulation of access is particularly important because many coves can only be reached by sea or via demanding trails.

6. Cala Goloritzé – Baunei
Cala Goloritzé is one of the symbols of the eastern Sardinian coast. Access by land is subject to limited numbers and booking, with a daily visitor limit. The beach can also be reached by sea, but with regulated access methods and distances from the shoreline.

7. Cala Mariolu – Baunei
Cala Mariolu is famous for its white and pink pebbles, the turquoise tones of the sea and the limestone cliffs that surround it. Access is regulated in order to preserve one of the most delicate environments of the Gulf of Orosei.

8. Cala Biriala – Baunei
Cala Biriola is a small bay surrounded by rocks and Mediterranean scrub. Like other beaches on the Baunei coast, access is subject to rules aimed at limiting the number of visitors and protecting the environment.

9. Cala Sisine – Baunei

10. Cala dei Gabbiani – Baunei
Small and spectacular, Cala dei Gabbiani is characterised by crystal-clear waters and a still largely unspoilt natural setting. Here too, access is subject to regulation in order to reduce the impact of tourism.

11. Cala Luna – Baunei / Dorgali
Cala Luna is one of the best-known beaches in Sardinia and one of the iconic images of the Gulf of Orosei. The beach can be reached by sea or via trekking trails, and access is managed in accordance with the regulations of the territories concerned.
Where: on the border between Baunei and Dorgali
Access: regulated. Entry to Cala Luna is managed mainly by authorised operators (who purchase the tickets). Online booking for private individuals is not available; any remaining places may be purchased on site if available.
12. Oasi di Bidderosa – Orosei
The Bidderosa Oasis is one of the most beautiful natural areas on the central-eastern coast of Sardinia. It is not simply a beach with a turnstile at the entrance: the management system mainly concerns the number of vehicles and access to the natural area, with limits designed to preserve the delicate balance of the oasis.
It is therefore more accurate to speak of quota-controlled and regulated access rather than a simple limited-number beach.

13. Su Sirboni – Gairo
One of the new entries to consider in the updated 2026 list is Su Sirboni, in the territory of Gairo. The beach, set in a particularly evocative natural context on the Ogliastra coast, is subject to access-regulation systems during the summer season.

Beaches with booking in southern Sardinia
14. Punta Molentis – Villasimius
Punta Molentis is one of the most spectacular beaches on the south-eastern coast. Its particular shape, with a sand spit separating two bodies of water, makes it extremely popular in summer.
For this reason the Municipality of Villasimius has introduced a maximum daily number of visitors.
Where: Villasimius, South Sardinia
Access: Punta Molentis has limited numbers but cannot be booked online. Access is allowed directly on site, until the maximum daily capacity is reached.
15. Tuerredda – Teulada
Tuerredda is one of the most famous beaches in south-western Sardinia. The turquoise sea, light sand and the small island reachable by swimming have made it one of the most photographed destinations on the island.
During the summer, access is quota-controlled, with a maximum number of people authorised on the beach at the same time.

Beaches with booking in San Teodoro
16. Cala Brandinchi – San Teodoro
Known as the “Tahiti of Sardinia”, Cala Brandinchi is one of the most visited beaches on the north-eastern coast. The white sand, very shallow seabed and turquoise water make this beach particularly popular with families as well.
To manage the huge summer influx, access is subject to limited numbers and booking during the regulated period.

17. Lu Impostu – San Teodoro
A short distance from Cala Brandinchi lies Lu Impostu, another of San Teodoro’s iconic beaches. It is a long stretch of fine white sand, surrounded by dunes, junipers and Mediterranean scrub. The shallow, sandy seabed makes it particularly suitable for families.
Lu Impostu is also subject to access regulation during the summer season.

Before you go: always check the rules
An important note
Some of these beaches are not simply bookable or limited-number beaches. The regulatory situation has some nuances.
For example:
- Cala Coticcio has regulated access and by land requires a guide authorised by the Park.
- Oasi di Bidderosa has quota-controlled access mainly for vehicles/bicycles.
- Punta Molentis, Porto Sa Ruxi and Riu Trottu have numerical access limits.
Access arrangements for regulated beaches can change even within the same tourist season. The maximum number of visitors, opening hours, booking methods, costs and any restrictions for residents and non-residents may all vary.
Moreover, not all the beaches on this list use the same system: some require a reservation, others have a daily limit, others regulate access to the entire natural area or require specific visiting arrangements.
Before planning your visit, always check the information published by the Municipality, the Park or the body that manages the beach.
Practical tips: Advice for booking the beaches
📅 Book carefully: some beaches open bookings only for the following day or, at most, for the next two days. In high season, check the official websites frequently because places can sell out quickly.
⏰ Book in advance when possible: other beaches allow you to book well ahead. If you have already chosen the date, it is better not to leave it until the last moment.
🛏️ No places online? If you cannot find availability for online booking, check the beach establishments on site: in some cases it is possible to book a sunbed directly on the beach.
🕕 Pay attention to the times: some beaches require mandatory booking only until a certain time, for example 6:00 p.m. After that time access may be free, but the rules differ from beach to beach: always check the updated information on the official website.
🚗 Check the parking: for some beaches the reservation may also include a parking space. Always verify what is included in the booking.
