From September to December, Autunno in Barbagia takes you to discover 33 villages in inland Sardinia, each with its own identity, tradition and atmosphere. It is not just a calendar of events: it is an opportunity to enter the small villages, learn about ancient crafts, taste local products and witness traditions that are still part of everyday life here. 📌 Useful information
- Entrance: the Cortes Apertas and the main events are generally free.
- Opening hours: activities are mainly concentrated between morning and afternoon, with events and shows also in the evening.
- Food: during the Cortes you will find tastings and typical local products, often available for purchase directly from the producers.
- Parking: on event days the historic centres can be very crowded. It is advisable to arrive early and use the indicated parking areas.
- Clothing: many villages are in mountain areas and in autumn temperatures can be low, especially in the evening. Dress in layers and bring a jacket.
- Programme: each stop has a specific programme, with times and activities that may change. Always check the official programme before leaving.
- Time needed: to fully enjoy a stop allow at least half a day, or better still a full day if you want to visit the Cortes, eat on site and see the events.
🚗 How to get there
Most of the Autunno in Barbagia villages are inland and not directly connected to the main railway lines. The most practical way to reach them is by car, especially if you want to combine several villages on the same weekend. From Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero travel times vary depending on the stop, so it is advisable to check the route before leaving. On the busiest weekends allow for traffic and possible parking difficulties in the historic centres.

🛏️ Where to stay
To experience more stops without spending the weekend in the car, it is best to choose a central base and move from there. Nuoro is one of the most practical options for its location and the choice of accommodation; alternatively, you can stay directly in the small villages or nearby hamlets, choosing from B&B, small hotels, agriturismi and holiday homes. On Autunno in Barbagia weekends availability can decrease rapidly, especially in the most popular locations, so it is advisable to book in advance.
