DISCESA DEI CANDELIERI
14th AUGUST 2019 – Sassari
The Candelieri Feast (I Candelieri) dates back to the thirteenth century. The procession of Candlesticks – said Faradda – in Sarinia language – is a rite heard by the Sassaresi. All people from the town will take part on it.
On August 14th, early morning, begins the faradda day with the so-called “vestizione”. Each Gremio dresses its own Candlestick. The “descent” of the Candelieri takes place on the evening of 14th August starting from the square Castello where the ancient Aragonese castle stood.

ARBATAX 14-15-16-17 August
The Red Valley Festival is the most awaited event of Ferragosto in Sardinia. The splendid red stacks of Arbatax are the backdrop for these 4 days of music and pure fun on the beach. It is certainly the most international summer festival in Sardinia.

15th AUGUST – TIME IN JAZZ FESTIVAL OF PAOLO FRESU
The Mirko Casadei orchestra together with Paolo Fresu will be in Berchida to celebrate Ferragosto in the Arena in Piazza del Popolo. The small town of just over 3,000 people in the Sardinian hinterland hosts the Time in Jazz Festival from 7th to 16th August. Every evening on the stage Italian and international song artists accompanied by the famous director and trumpeter Paolo Fresu.

FERRAGOSTO TO THE SALT FLATS
15th AUGUST – SALT FLTAS CONTI-VECCHI IN ASSEMINI
Thursday 15 August, for those who want to spend the August holiday away from crowded beaches and long queues, the Saline has an extraordinary opening from 9.30am to 8.30pm
The small touristic train will departs every hour to visit the salt flats. An open air set up for a pic nic – there will also be snack machines, coffee and drinks on the spot – and fun workshops for children, where the little visitors will produce lucky charms with salt, learning everything you need to know about the Sardinian white gold.
